Teaching Requirements
Training begins in June and ends in May, with no exceptions. All training and practicum hours occur at the Neil and Willa Jean Smalley Children’s Dyslexia Center. Attendance at all scheduled lecture and practicum hours is mandatory. Scholars must have a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree and proof of this degree is required. A concern for children struggling with literacy is expected as well.
Time Commitment
- First five sessions: 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon
- Remaining 30 hours of seminar: 3-4 hours every 3rd or 4th Saturday thru February
Practicum
- Two students twice a week, M/W or T/TH, during the school year term; 12 sessions in summer term
Preparation
- Practical midterm and final: one or two in class quizzes
- 4 Book reports and other assignments
- Mastery of the structure of the English Language
- Lesson planning and record keeping
Application Process
Submit the following:
- Initial Level Training Scholar Application
- Proof of completion of Bachelor’s Degree (transcript or certificate)
- Two letters of recommendation from professionals in the field

Yes I am still accepting applications. Please send me your application along with a copy of your bachelors certificate. I begin interviewing beginning of March.
Training will begin in late June – I will send you a copy of the schedule once it is finalized.

Yes there is but apllication and Refereences (2) and proof of bachelor degree (certificate or transcript) must be in no later than Thursday of this week – April 19th.
